SKE48 Beginning of a New Story

Ogiso Shiori

Given my age, I’m playing a role of middle management in our team. Even if we have a new theater, I want to preserve KII’s uniqueness.

In our new song 「Choco no Dorei」we express the feelings of a boy during Valentine. Us girls are excited during this period, since we are the ones giving chocolates but the receiving side must also be nervous right? It’s with this idea in mind that I sing this new song.
The choreography is complexe too. There are many steps and it feels like our arms and legs are constantly moving. Small hand movements add to the overall dynamic moves, so I think there are movements fans could easily reproduce if they wanted to.

Looking back, 2012 was really a major year for SKE. We had a 2 days live in Gaishi Hall, we opened our exclusive theater and we performed independently in NHK Kouhaku Utagassen. In the new theater we have the seri system and we can enter by the left or right side like before but also, once the monitor opens, by the middle of the stage. I’m sure this splendid theater will be a chance for KII’s stage to take a new step forward. In KII everyone is treated as equal, we don’t leave anyone behind. It didn’t change from the time when I was kenkyuusei and performed as under with the team; if there is a girl who has difficulties and lags behind, we will definitely catch her hand and walk all together, united. Among the wide age range in the group, I think I’ve come to play a role of middle management, but making good use of this position I want to keep advancing like I always did.
On the private side, I’ll soon celebrate my coming of age. I’m looking forward to it as it will be the occasion to pick a furisode, think about how to do my hair and get in touch with my friends in a long time.

Ishida Anna

I want to bring a lot of what I’m learning with AKB48-san during my concurrent position, back to SKE.

Since I entered SKE years have passed at incredible speed, so many things happen continuously that I usually can’t make my mind on what was the most impactful. But the lastest for me must have been…. my concurrent position with AKB-san.
I was uncertain of how it would go at first but after some time it became more and more enjoyable!! What I realized there, is how SKE dances are really extraordinary. After performing with AKB-san everyone is “Oh, I’m so tired” when I’m still perfectly cool and ready to go for another round; being used to such frenetic dances I must have built a solid stamina. On the other hand, as expected AKB-san are really brilliant when it comes to MC!! Their facial expressions too are incredible!! All the members perfectly know how to present themselves under their best light. I really learn a lot by observing them.

Of course I want to keep giving my best as SKE’s Ishida Anna!! When I return with KII, everyone takes care of me so I feel at peace (laugh). We also have our new theater…The design is so fancy it feels like you’re entering Disneyland, I encourage everyone to come and check it by themselves. Our new song to be released on January 31st is a Valentine song, told from a boy’s point of view. Did you notice how there seems to be more and more herbivorous boys out there nowadays? This time we sing to express the feelings of those soft boys. It’s an high tempo song with a dynamic dance, but we have added subtle new elements which should give a new image for the group.
Right now, everyday gives me a feeling of completion as I’m offered to do things I love. I’ll give my best this year too as to be told that I’ve grown!!

Furukawa Airi

I want to share my love for 2D of course, but I also want to explore other fields with fans!!

For me last year was the year when SKE48’s existence affirmed itself. As part of this global conscience penetration, Furukawa’s character got recognized too. In  the 2D field notably, I was offered to collaborate with Gunpla Expo, fans would come to handshake events and tell me 「I’ve seen your work at the art exposition and I got interested into meeting you」or「I’ve come to like you thanks to Chibi-Airin on G+」, there were a lot of happy moments like those.
This year I don’t want to restrict my activities to 2D, I want to explore new fields. For example, I love factories and UFO and I created the 「Mysteries Circle」. For now we have 5 members, (Mukaida) Manatsu, (Sato) Seira, (Yakata) Miki, (Takayanagi) Akane, but I’m wondering how to brings everyone’s attention to it now (laugh).

Last December, in the period of a single month we have opened our new and finally exclusive theater and we performed independently in NHK Kouhaku Utagassen. The stage of the new theater is much wider than before so I can dance while being more relaxed and thanks to the seri system stages are like renewed. I’m among the senior members in KII so I want to create fun stages where I will look after the younger ones when they prattle.

Our new song is about a boy tormented by Valentine coming soon, with many catchy parts and rhythm variations in the melody, especially during the interlude. Dance steps are especially complicated this time around and different from our precedent choreographies, please pay attention to it.

Yakata Miki

Are you ready for a Valentine song? ♪ This year I want to turn into someone with a strong aura.

Following the announcement that I would be part of 「Aishiteraburu」which was released in May, it was for me a year filled with great moments of joy. Thanks to fans’ support I also ranked 62nd in AKB48’s General Elections and had the chance to keep being selected for senbatsu.
The theme of our new song is Valentine. 「Kiss Datte Hidarikiki」was sang from a girl’s point of view but this time around we returned to SKE’s tradition of songs presenting a boy’s perspective. We’ve shot the MV in our new theater and it became our first time performing in it… Now we have the system allowing different levels in the stage, there are no more pillars obstructing the view so the field of vision has greatly expanded. This way we can even feel the gaze of fans sitting at the back. In KII I play the role of the high spirited member, making jokes backstage to lighten the mood and ease everyone. But lately during stages I’ve taken a habit of making weird faces when I meet fans’ gazes and averting my eyes (laugh).

On the private side, my family has gained one member. Though we’re talking about kittens here (laugh). I’m currently keeping 7 cats at home. I love when they wait for me to come back. Lately I’ve also visited Tutankhamun exposition three times and was delighted at this chance to approach Egyptian history. At only a few centimeters from the subjects, you can see a ton of details you miss in picture books!!
This year I want to take it upon myself to bring out my own characteristics and to become someone with a shining aura!!
