They do. I don’t know about legal requirements (if there are any), but as long as the rent is paid and the person concerned (teen) can take care of him/herself, I don’t see anyone opposing it.

Lot of students move to different cities than where their parents are to follow special training or enroll in HS with special programs. Some live in dormitories, other in private residences, share flats etc etc…

It’s often pictured in anime or drama (for some reason Hidamari Sketch comes to mind *fufufufu*)

Although sometimes parents can’t afford / don’t want their kids to move out and they end up ridding trains for hours everyday (saw kids boarding at 5 am to be at school at 8 and repeating it 5 times a week).

So yeah, Jurina living by herself in Tokyo isn’t that surprising. Especially since she isn’t left all alone there. She must have her manager and Yuasa looking after her.

AKB Elections

This year AKB elections ended up with a massive uproar.

But isn’t it incredible?
In 2008 when I started to work with the group I could feel its relative popularity, but to think that it would grow to become a national group, to the point that its elections would become a topic of discussion in 「Asamade Nama TV」…(^_^;)

I followed the elections in front of my TV.
Here my personal impressions.

First Sashihara.
She is exactly the same person behind the scene, she is really a great girl.
She is always insecure and for each new choreography she will come and ask 「Are moves difficult this time?」.
I’m looking forward to see how this Sashihara, who now carries on her shoulders the huge responsibility to be AKB center,  will change from now on.

And something that made me very happy this time was WMatsui joining Kami7!
I watched them with deep emotion thinking
“Ahh~ They made it that far~”.
But I don’t want them to stop here, I want them to aim higher.

One person I respect particularly in AKB, Takamina.
With her small figure, she not only command and lead members, but staffs too.
On the field, I saw her countless times handle works destined at managers and staffs.
She isn’t that strong of a girl and yet, she gives so so much it looks like she could just break there.
If she were to leave AKB, there is no doubt in my mind it would collapse.
I can’t help but wish her value was more appreciated.

Miyazawa Sae.
Sae was so cool yesterday~
This girl is really a fighter, shining as bright as the sun in  adversity.
When she is there, somehow, you can feel at peace.
Before I realized it, I was thinking I wanted to be by her side to support her in Shanghai.

I will keep in my chest lots of emotions I got from everyone during those elections.
Every and each member was radiant.

Why would I want to let her go when I can wish she does a better job at representing SKE instead? 

Yes she looks (a bit?) too distant from SKE at times and she doesn’t interact enough with members or if she does it’s not visible and it feels awkward because she appears a lot more with AKB (thanks to TV shows and Mariko’s photo), but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her place in SKE.

She is, with Rena, SKE center. And I know she cares for the group and looks after her juniors and want them to succeed and is concerned…

But it kills me that she is so fracking unable to express it! If she can make an election speech saying how she believes in SKE and wants the group to become even more successful, if she can say she is happy Akarin made it in senbatsu and wants more SKE members in*, what is the problem with writing a blog post to congratulate her fellow members and mentioning SKE there?

It’s inconsistent and that’s not really something you can let pass when you’re de facto SKE representative and when you’re in such a delicate position as Ju’s one. Many SKE fans are wary of management pushing her more and more toward AKB, so I dare claim more reminders she IS SKE and cares about the group, would be necessary.

No, not everyone can claim being 代表. Jurina claimed this title because she ranked the highest in SKE and is anyway the most exposed member (at least inside of the 48 group). Her and Rena are the only ones who could reasonably pretend being SKE representative in this fashion.

That Jurina claimed the title, no objection. She ranks the highest, she has this right. But if it’s to fail to mention the group altogether after that, no. I’m not ok with that. 

Her blog is read by many of her fans who aren’t necessarily SKE fans. A representative would use this space as a window to, if not promote SKE, at least mention it. Failing to do so is failing as being a representative. And that’s certainly not the first time she “forgets” about SKE :/. 

That won’t be new to you I guess, but let me paste here something I wrote earlier on twitter about not congratulating her fellow SKE members :

It’s not just uncalled for a “representative”. It’s not just being inconsiderate. It’s plain rude.

Each word has a meaning and weight. It would be good idea for Jurina to either stick to them or to pick them more wisely.

P.S : I’m not mad at Jurina. I’m mad at her post and at how something as easy and simple as congratulate SKE in the only post she put online since the elections was omitted. Sometimes I really wonder if she takes the measure of her position in SKE and how the group needs her not just to perform but for so much more (and it’s not like SKE has many occasions to perform anyway “orz).

tl;dr : Kid needs to put her sh!t together.

Weird timing you have there…

Usually I would tell you how Jurina is a great performer, how she loves to be pampered, how she can’t resist kissing cute girls (only older ones!), etc etc… You can actually find all about it in the translations I’ve posted (just click on the tag Juri犬 on the right on my page).

But tonight I’m still struggling to digest her post elections ameblo entry. See… Every member in SKE, from Rena to KKS have written entries in which they expressed their joy or regrets, their feelings post elections but no matter how they felt, how depressed or excited they were they all, naturally, expressed how they were glad many SKE members ranked and congratulated them.

All except one.

I get the fact that Mariko’s graduation is affecting her. Nobody asks her to write an essay on SKE, but, are a few words too much to ask?

Your oshi is half of SKE center anon., but in my humble opinion, she doesn’t qualify as SKE representative.

Relieved because ranking predictions weren’t all that good for Rena. I had no doubt Jurina would rank high (expected even higher than this, honestly). But Rena…

Kami 7. I didn’t even dare to think about it. But she did it. Her fans did it. I did it. You too maybe?

I don’t know if this blog helped in any way. I hope it did, even if just a bit. To get fans to know members better. To give them the envy to support them, to see them smile.

I remember this episode and how fans noticed there were men shoes in the hallway as well as old games Jurina would have been too young to play (like Super Famicom), hinting that maybe her father was still around at the time…

But hints are still way too slim so I prefer not to think too hard about it. Plus if she doesn’t want to talk about her, that’s her right. Some matters should remain private.

As for trying to find a father figure in men… I don’t know xD. I’m not an expert in those matters but she often underlines how her ideal husband would be someone reliable, diligent in his work and preferably older. Sounds like some reasonable criteria, not sure Freud would have find much to say about kiddo ”^^. Imho it has more to do with her being very mature for her age and wanting someone who can answer her expectations / take good care of her, than something related to her father. But again, I’m no expert.

Jurina never talks about her father, except like you mentioned, when she said he was the same age her mother’s (edit : 2 or 3 years younger maybe? :o), so relatively young.

To tell the truth when I entered the fandom I first thought he may have pass away seeing how the subject was always avoided but doesn’t seem like it. 

There is no official statement or any hint around which makes it possible to say Jurina’s parents are divorced. I mean, maybe her mother never married in the first place, or they’ve been separated for years while remaining married… There are several possibilities but everything seems to indicate that by the time (or right after) Jurina joined SKE she was living alone with her mother and that it didn’t change. 

The fact that she never mentions her father in any way makes me think that maybe they don’t meet that often… Well, nobody knows really so I can’t go further than that :<.

Where our 3 ladies play OLs who all get dumped by their boyfriends for being too peculiar (one never stop with her puns, one made her bf sick just at the view of spicy food and the last one is too cold all the time).

They’ll try to find a new companion and all fall for the same guy… *drums roll*

Highlights : 

• Asking why they all been put together (Jurina doubts of Rena enthusiasm lol), Rena mentions she is in the same Team as Ju (and that they… kiss-(ed)? o_O” wut? Might be hearing things there lol That’s no how you describe your relation with someone like Ju “°w°) and is good friend with Paruru, also Melonpan Doumei members. But she wonders what is the connection between Paruru and Jurina, to which the kid answers :

J : We played in the same drama. We even slept (rest) together… In a filthy bed!

R : Jurina don’t say it like this! At least say it was an old bed but not like this.

J : And we used each other as pillows too.

• Trying to impress Ikemen-Tarou, Jurina imitates various animals. Rena imitates 2 types of shinkansen and Paruru… a sloth.

• A fan explains she loves pan and is in bad mood when she can’t get some for lunch. Question is how members vent their bad temper.
  
  Paruru gets immediately better when she receives a mail saying she has a day off tomorrow.
  
  Rena is the type to store it up and until she reached max level of bad mood and something in her switches, she will be annoyed. She is the type to release it all at once. She concedes talking about your trouble is the best though but one way or another people around her know when is pissed.

• Members try to remember what they were doing 8 years ago : Jurina probably playing in a park. Paruru doing her best (!) in the swimming team and Rena says she doesn’t want to think about it. Jurina asks her if it’s because those times were hard to her but R dodges the ball saying she simply doesn’t remember.
