Ya ~(・ω・)ノ

Today I’ve taken an unusual amount of two shots.

I’ve also launched love-love attacks on Airin.

Airin with pigtails is just too cute.

Justice! Justice! (tln : remember, cuteness is justice)

Ah, but she is always cute of course!

I just love Airin.*

I just want to watch over Manatsu.

Churi is just my friend.

Is that clear enough?

Run~Run

I feel satisfied, having been able to talk so much with fans todayー!

Tomorrow too I should be able to give my best!

Mornin’

That’s the entry I couldn’t post yesterday.
It’s meaningless now that the day has passed, but I’ll post it anyway.

December 13th is my beloved Airin’s birthday.
No matter how many year pass, I’ve this impression Airin doesn’t age.
For me it’s like she never changed and she is still as young as when I first met her.

She always listen to my boring stories, is always cute, she is great on many aspects though different from most people… I love those traits of her.

More than her beaming smile, I like her tight-lipped smiling face!
I like how she looks when she is drawing!
I like the hairline around her ears when she does her hair up!
Scratch it, I like everything about Airin!

I want us to go out have fun somewhere together again
I hope we can go see amphibians and reptiles.

Airin happy birthday!

Kouhaku solo performance! Decided

Earlier today, I had the pleasure to attend the press conference for Kouhaku!!

I was so nervous my head was spinning (>ω<、)

We were told we would participate in Kouhaku today around 3 o’clock…

I really couldn’t believe it.

「Performing independently in Kouhaku Utagasen」, that’s the dream Yuasa-san shared with us in a small room of the theater, when SKE was only composed of 1st generation members.

I didn’t thought it would be possible back then, nevertheless I remember being boosted by the enthusiasm  of getting closer from that dream.

And so today when we were told about the decision, this episode from 4 years ago was the first thing to come back to my mind.

December 31st, I’ll make my wish as part of SKE48 comes true (^^*)

It’s really like living a dream.

It was our dream, and the dream of all those supporting us, it’s so so amazing, we can all rejoice now, right?

Waaaーー!

二次元同好会 interview (Sawako, Mikity and Airin) from Nikkei Entertainment - October 2012 -published on September 4th.

——

SKE48 - 2D Enthusiasts Association -

Don’t call yourself an otaku if you just「 like it」!

The word 「otaku」is widely, even casually, used nowadays. Young girls claiming to have an interest for anime, manga, games etc are by no mean a rare occurrence anymore. Lately this trend has been particularly noticeable among idols. Making conversation easier with their male fans sharing this interest during handshake events for example, many have openly proclaimed their love for anime.
Inside the Nagoya based SKE48 group, members sharing the same love for anime and manga have gathered to form the 「2D Enthusiasts Association」. This time I had the pleasure to interview the 2nd president of the association : Hata Sawako, as well as prominent members : Furukawa Airi and Yakata Miki. I asked them what being an 「otaku」meant to them.

No skipping over shounen manga

Q - What was the first anime or manga you got addicted to?

Furukawa Airi - What I fell for first was a bishoujo game. Kanon, which was also adapted in anime later. It was around the time I entered middle school.

Hata Sawako - My case is probably a bit different from everyone else. I dreamed to be a seiyuu first thing. Since I wanted to be a seiyuu I watched anime for studying purpose and thus I thought : “Oh, this is fun”. I must have been around 18 then. I first became a fan of Tamura Yukarin-san (tln : 姫様!!). It goes without saying her acting is excellent, but I also came to love her because of her personal history. Even when she attended training courses for becoming a seiyuu, she didn’t receive any help but fought her way in as an ordinary applicant.
Since before that time I was also reading manga, it was my entrance door to the world of 2D.

Yakata Miki - My first was the anime「Fullmetal Alchemist」. I was following the publication of the manga in「GanGan」already, but I got really crazy about the serie when the anime started. I was in my 4th year of elementary school.

Q - How did you became familiar with game and anime oriented to a male audience?

Furukawa - For me it was through my big brother. I was always watching him playing, and then we grew up to both like the same titles. Exactly the kind of development you’d find in a bishoujo game (laugh). I also already loved shounen manga like 「Baki」and「Jojo」at that time.

Yakata - Me too! In my early days I followed manga like「InuYasha」. I had a little brother who bought 「KoroKoro」every month  and that’s how I came in contact with works for boys.

Furukawa - In Furukawa house too we read 「BonBon」before「Jump」. But even though I was reading shounen manga, I never stopped reading 「Ribon」too.

Hata - Everybody read 「Ribon」at one point or another, right? For me it was 「Nakayoshi」,「Ribon」and「Shounen Ace」. Later it became 「Hana to Yume」.

Collecting goods

Q - Around that time, how did you express your love for those series?

Furukawa - I drew reproductions of arts from「Kanon」. But even after showing them to my friends at school they didn’t express any interest (laugh).

Yakata - Which was the most extraordinary for me was 「Hagaren」’s card game. In one pack you would receive 4 cards. It happened that I bought 30 packs a day. I vividly remember trying until I’d get a rare one. I also bought my stationary,  everything 「Hagaren」, in Animate and brought them at school.

Furukawa - I did that too! I was buying large quantities of trading cards and also lots of desk mats. There were many goods for bishoujo games so when I spotted one I had to bye it.

Yakata - I get you.

Furukawa - Now there are more goodies but at this point of time they were really hard to find. Then the title for which I collected the more goods is certainly 「Sister Princess」, during my adolescence. There were often goods coming as supplements for game magazine and I would always use them at school and at home.

Otaku as a charm point

Q - Were you open toward your friends about your hobby?

Furukawa - I never even slightly hide it. I was naturally but not forcibly, trying to get them interested.

Hata - I made friends at my school thanks to the diffusion of 「Gundam Seed」, we did things like drawing illustrations together. Really, everyone was open to those things.

Yakata - Me too I didn’t kept it a secret. I was asked by boys 「What do you trade?」so I would normally talk with them 「I’m into 「Hagaren」lately…」.

Furukawa - It’s true that usually boys are more interested in this kind of things than girls.

Hata - True. But there is something I won’t forget : there was a boy in my class who had a girl in bunny outfit on his desk mat. Nobody wanted to have anything to do with him, I was feeling really sad for him.

Furukawa - Girls aren’t treated like this, right?

Yakata - I don’t think they are.

Furukawa - It wasn’t tough for me, instead if people around me had absolutely no interest they simply let me be.

Hata - Same for me.

Yakata - Rather that paying attention around, I was happy with the fact of being an otaku.

Furukawa - It gives you thrills right?

Yakata - It does. Even during lecture or when studying you can enjoy looking at your desk mat or magazines scraps.

Furukawa - Actually, being into 2D might be an appeal point. That’s what I wrote about in my application form for SKE48 auditions. Since what I loved the most was 2D, I decided to have faith in myself and talked about it, liking drawing I also included this so it reflected my own personality.

Q - Do you think of yourself as an otaku?

Furukawa - I  realized I was one when people around me started telling me “You’re an otaku right?” (laugh). I don’t think you become an otaku because you want to, rather it’s something happening before you realize it. That said, for me it sounds perfectly normal.

Hata - In my mind, otaku are extremely determined and persisting people, they will know everything about the title they like, you shouldn’t call yourself an otaku if you don’t make extra efforts to know more about what you like than the average fan. I think it’s presumptuous to call yourself otaku if you simply “like” such or such work. That’s why I don’t think of myself as an otaku.

Don’t call yourself 「otaku」lightly

Yakata - I’m not sure myself if I’m an otaku or not. I get absorbed in the anime or manga I like, so in one hand I would called myself an otaku in comparison to non fans, but I still have a long way to go. When I look at Airi-san, I see that I’m far from being a complete otaku, I can’t yet call myself that (laugh). Really,  Airi-san’s world and ours is different.

Furukawa - Possible.

Yakata - Somehow it feels you’ve penetrate too far in the maniac world. Your knowledge in bishoujo games is so deep that listening at you I can only be “Ah, I - I see”. But I learn a lot being by your side.

Hata - But if it was about 「Hagaren」, you’d be the same no?

Furukawa - Hmm, I bet she would be (laugh).

Yakata - We all have our fields of expertise I guess.

Furukawa - In the 2D Enthusiasts Association our hobbies are all over the place really (laugh). But, even if two members don’t share the same interest, since both are part of the association and thus love 2D, they should understand each other and have a lot to talk about.

Q - Did becoming a 2D enthusiast took away your interest from “3D” artists in the flesh?

Furukawa - It didn’t, there are artists I like. I’m even a member of Porno Graffitti fanclub.

Hakata - Me too, I like K-pop among others. But well, it’s around ⅛ of the interest I have for 2D (laugh).

Furukawa - Something like that (laugh).

Hata - Personally, I’m always reminded that humans are living creatures, with their own personalities, their private life, and ultimately they’re bound to die…

Furukawa - That’s how we are.

Hata - But when it comes to 2D, there are no such things.

Yakata - Nope.

Hata - Of course there is the author drawing but once his/her world is created there is basically no end to it, and there are no elements of private life to create a scandal. It’s a world much more pure than ours. (tln : literally : “There is no dirty/filthy elements (in 2D)”… How terrible is the image Shawako has of the real world exactly? (“ °^°) Guess it comes, for a part, of all the seiyuu-related scandals we had those past years.)

Furukawa - At the end of the day, we just see and believe what we want to.

Hata - Exactly. What’s more, we can always keep it by our side.

Furukawa - It’s comforting to always have to your reach something that you know won’t betray you, isn’t it? When in the 3D world, you never know what can happen (laugh).

Yakata - In the real world, artists can cease all activity overnight.

Furukawa - Certainly. But in the world of 2D things like discontinued publications exist too (laugh).

26th September

Nikkei Entertainment October 2012 - released September 4th - Furukawa Airi, Ogiso Shiori, Matsumura Kaori, Kimoto Kanon and Mukaida Manatsu interviews.

Furukawa Airi

Q - A girl who loves anime and manga, core member of the 「2D enthusiasts association」. With an established reputation as a great singer and illustrator, her work is currently serialized in a magazine. For the first time this year, she ranked 30th in the general elections.

Airi - I think we do an excellent team work in SKE48. Whenever we have the opportunity we get fired up at unison. When we appear in AKB48 concerts, this force is striking and we all get even more boosted to give our best.

When I failed to enter the selection for 「Okidoki」, I started investing myself in my blog and Google+. I’m not good with words and so I was told my blog was boring, but now I’m drawing tons of illustrations.

I admire anime seiyuus, especially Onosaka Masaya and Yui Orie whom I love. I hope that someday I could become a seiyuu too. And I would be the happiest person ever if I could sing the theme song for an installment of 「Kidousenshi Gundam」!

I also want to produce my own anime someday. I’d be in charge of the drawing, voices, songs… I’ve make a step closer to this dream in our 1st album. In the MV for 「Banjii Sengen」, I appear along the CG character I drew myself. In this video I transform in a senshi type of heroin, and we fight side to side the villain of the story. I shot the PV alone on a blue back so it was difficult to imagine how it would turn out. Please watch the PV to know what the result is like!

——

Ogiso Shiori

Q - As a 3rd generation member, 4 months after entering SKE48 she was picked for her first single selection. This 19 years old girl with her husky voice for specificity loves shopping, playing around and… cats.

Shiori - SKE48 is an athletic organization in some aspects. It’s especially noticeable with how much we move and give of ourselves in our stages, resulting in members having a big appetite. Lately I’m thinking this avarice for food (tln : alt. gluttony) is our secret charm point. When we are outside and that our own bento isn’t enough for fill us, everyone hunts the rests (laugh). At first I felt I had to hand it over to the seniors, but now it’s goes to whom is faster. It’s especially true when it comes to meet since it’s popular among us.

I love cats and I’m also told my personality is like a cat one. Dogs wave their tail don’t they? I can’t stand it, I have to pass behind and pull it. I was also told by (Takayanagi) Akane that I was「jumpy like a cat」. It’s true that when I’m scared or surprised I tend to jump up and down (laugh).

I often hear by fans that I changed since the time I missed the selection for 「1!2!3!4! Yoroshiku!」. It’s true that from then during our stage performances even if I was behind I make sure to stand out more by making bigger movements, I brought myself to the fore and found the resolve to make greater efforts. From now on I would like to appear in fashion magazines, gain experience in mode gravure shootings.

——

Matsumura Kaori

Q - She gathered attention thanks to her original operation on Google+. She ranked 34th in this year general elections, claiming the highest position ever for a research student in the whole 48 group.

Kaori - After the elections, my situation changed drastically. In my case it’s thanks to my fans support that I could enter the single selections, so I will make all necessary efforts not to let that chance go to waste.

I love bringing the conversation to life, for example during stage MC. It goes like “As long as people smile I feel relieved”, fans themselves don’t seek a typical idol-like role from me (laugh). In the other hand, I’m fascinating by the punishing games celebrities are going through, especially the staining ones like jumping in boiling water or being recovered of flour!

On Gugutasu I produce my own videos and we share some great time with fans thanks to them. Each week, like a relay, I invite a member in my program, I’d like to invite members from other 48 groups next.

——

Kimoto Kanon

Q - Right after passing the audition, with an exceptionnal speed, she was chose to enter the single selection. Although she bearing a young sister image, she assumes Team E center position and is the motor of her team.

Kanon - I was honestly glad to ranked 56th in those elections. But a part of me was also sad, being the only member from Team E to rank in. I have to accept this result though and I want to use this bitterness as a fuel to aim higher.

I think that compared to AKB48 where there are many beautiful persons, SKE’s charm is to be more banal, to lack refinement (laugh). I mean, I guess it’s good that fans can feel closer to us, no? (tln : alt. translation -> that we look more accessible)

My personal challenge is to appear in more drama. In the future I would like to play in drama outside the 48 group.

I also aim at being SKE48 n°1 idol. I’ve always loved idols, I study other groups and 48 ones by watching videos. For example, when doing the guts pose (tln : victory pose), if you slightly bent your fist it becomes cuter. Practicing regularly, it becomes natural and you don’t even need to think about it anymore.

——

Mukaida Manatsu

Q - Team KII ace is someone going to her own pace. Still, she ranked 35th in those 4th general elections.

Manatsu - I don’t think anyone could have imagined that the equivalent of a team from SKE48 would have ranked in those elections. When I stepped up on stage I became strangely calm and so I didn’t cry. But I didn’t quite understand why I had been chosen among so many great people and I felt quite airy (laugh).

In my case, when everybody else goes 「Waaaー」I remain calm and it happens that fans think「She is a bit cold」. It’s true that I’m shy and it took me over 3 months to speak normally with the members when I joined. The first girl who came to talk to me was Matsumoto Rina from Team KII. Maybe she felt we were alike (laugh).

But the truth is I love to laugh. I start laughing really easily and now that I’ve thrown off my reserve I’m told by other members 「You laugh for nothing!」.

AKB48 general election! Swimsuit surprise announcement translation part 4

29th Suda Akari
Her handshake will save the world!

Fans are parts of myself.

Q - First, tell us about your thoughts on ranking 29th.

I was truly happy when I stood in front of everyone. I was grateful from the bottom of my heart. But when I calmed down and considered my ranking again I confess I was unsatisfied. Not because of my ranking, but with myself because there are still a lot of departments in which I need to improve. But I like to have this part of bitterness in me, even with it I’m very happy.

Q - This one year, you really gave your best during the handshake events right?

It’s not something I had to work hard on. Rather it’s something I had to do for myself (alt : it was a matter of course for myself). In SKE48 all the members are granted the same chance to communicate/bound via their blogs, stage and handshake events. I simply swore to myself not to neglect any of those 3.

Q - Then, what goal did you set to yourself for the year to come?

I want to be someone who brings as many people as possible to say : “I’m in good mood just by looking at her” “She gives me energy”. I also want to do more photo shootings. I love my own dorsal muscles and upper arms which are said by others to be beautiful, so I’d like for more people to notice them. But more than anything, Akari really loves her fans, they are a part of herself even more vital than her spinal column. I hope I can convey those feelings properly.
I really really love them! (Repeating it a good dozen of times…)

Card
Fierce nerve Akarinrin, all together? Akarinri~n! (^o^)ノ (tln : 勇気凛々、あかりんりん、皆一緒に? あかりんりーん!/ Yuuki rinrin, minna isshoni? Akarinri~n)
Suda Akari, also known as Akarin.
Thanks to all of you, I was able to enter the Under Girls selection for the 2nd year in a row. This is such a great joy for me. I’m so lucky, being able to appear in a new song and experiencing this moment of bliss with you all. Thank you very much.

—————

30th Furukawa Airi
All for the sake of 2D

We ascended to the stage together, 「Chibi Airin」,「Gugutasu-tan」and myself.

Q - This is your first time ranking. What else, you’ve reached a superb 30th place.

My goal was to be among the 64 members ranking simply. And then in the flash results report I was 22nd. When I first heard that I was really shocked, I even wondered if it was a prank. But this time, above all else, during the elections period certain fans made 「Furukawa Journal」fliers and handed them over during handshake events. To know that such thing happened made me really happy.

Q - And thus when your name was called you walked toward the stage. During your speech you extended your left hand and opened it, presenting your fans with「Chibi Airin」and「Gugutasu-tan」.

In my campaign video I made the declaration that we would 「stand on stage, the 3 of us together」, so I had to think how to make it possible. And so, that day, before we went on stage to dance, I used an oil pen to draw on my hand. But as I clutched my hands, it started to blur because of the sweat. I didn’t expected to be call that late.

Q - Please a declaration regarding your goal for this year.

I think it would be good if I progressively show different facet of my personality. People will get tired of me if I don’t show any change.

Q - A cool analysis if I may. Today too Furukawa-san shows a serein image.

Hahaha. And then, to celebrate the position I was granted, I definitely want to sing a wonderful anison (laugh).

Card
Really, really thank you!!!
I’m such a lucky person!
From now on Furukawa Airin will keep going on will all she has! (tln : “全力全開 / zenryoku zenkai”, Nanoha trademark expression).

26th June

RH 50 RenAi moment now subbedΣ(ノ≧ڡ≦) poor Manatsu…

1st June

2D enthusiasts association 1st intervention in Cyzo’s magazine in July 2010.

Subject : Kuroshitsuji.

ps : After staring at those pictures for an indecent long time, I’ve decided Rena was the best xxx48 dansou. Nobody is ever gonna beat this Sebastian cosplay. Ever.

—-

In their lectures, the proud (?)  members of the “2D enthusiasts association” will address topics such as manga or anime, discussing the value of “2D works” from their own point of view as to present them to adults unfamiliar with the subject. To kick off this corner, the first teaching material to have been picked is the lately famous manga, which has been adapted into anime too, 「Kuroshitsuji」 (Square Enix). To my surprise, it seems Matsui-san had not read it until now.

Matsui Rena - Exact. But I read the 1st two volumes we lent me and got interested in knowing what happens next. But, the hero’s butler, Sebastian, didn’t make a strong impression on me, I much preferred Ciel. I can’t get enough of him in white shirt, suits him so well!

- But isn’t Sebastian wearing a white shirt more often than Ciel? He is a butler after all…

Matsui - Well…. I prefer the sense of purity that comes off of Ciel in white shirt. But to tell the truth I also have a thing for slender silhouettes and I like cute  young male characters.

Nakanishi Yuka - Something like 「I can’t get to like adults」?

Matsui - Tha- That’s not it! True that lately there is this rumor 「Suspicions about Matsui Rena loving shota」 spreading among the girls and members of the staff….

- In other manga, what kind of male character do you like?

Matsui - In 「Arakawa under the bridge」, I yearn after the good-for-nothing side of the protagonist. And when he regressed to an infantile stage, he somehow looked like Ciel, he was so adorable then!!

- No doubt left, you really like shota….

Hiramatsu Kanako - Rather than Ciel, I much prefer Sebastian~

Nakanishi - Kana-chan  likes to root for popular characters, doesn’t she.

Hiramatsu - That’s not true. In 「Hakuouki」 my number one is Saitou Hajime and he isn’t the most popular! That’s Tatsumi Hijikata!

Matsui - Ne~, what is good about Saitou Hajime? You don’t think he looks like a pineapple with this hairdo?

Hiramtasu - What the….! And Ciel then, he is just a brat. You darn shota lover~!!

Matsui - ….

Nakanishi - Eh, no refutation?!  (laugh)

- Come to think of it, you haven’t said a single word Furukawa-san. Could it be that you didn’t read 「Kuroshitsuji」?

Furukawa Airi - No, a friend lent me his/her books so I read it. It’s just that I like bishoujo so… Ah, but in the 2nd volume Ciel cross-dresses as a girl and gets blindfolded, he is even tied up. That set my heart on fire~♥.

- I see. What about the content of the work itself?

Furukawa - Hum, well …You see, again, I like bishoujo.

- Roger that 「I’m not interested if there are too few female characters appearing」, right? (laugh) So, if you had to point out at other qualities of the manga…

Nakanishi - I like the setting and how England is depict in the books. I’m subjugated by the characters clothes and hairstyles.

Hiramatsu - I also love how cute the Gothic style of 「Kuroshitsuji」 is! Simply looking at the art is fun!

Matsui - The style sure is popular among girls.

Nakanishi - Simply, when you start reading it with certain expectations… it can turn to be a bit hazardous (laugh).

Furukawa - Hum. But if you’re of those who enjoy the atmosphere and characters in manga then it’s ok.

- Chances are the title was initially planed for a short serialization. Thus the development seems a bit awkward , no?

Hiramatsu - But if you keep reading, the story gets better. I’d say the it really becomes interesting in volume 3, maybe?

Nakanishi - I’d rather say in volume 4~

Matsui - Well, everybody will enjoy the story according to his or her won taste!

- Matsui-san, suddenly settling the discussion… As expected of SKE48 appointed moderator.

Nakanishi - Moderator and in charge of the shota departement!

Matsui - Fine, I will aknwoledge it…. Matsui Rena likes shota! (laugh)

——

SKE48 Postscript : 「Before this shooting I had never cosplay nor cross-dress, as I admired both I was really happy to be given the opportunity to do it. But truth is I had not read 「Kuroshitsuji」 yet, so I borrowed 2 volumes from Yuka-chan at the last minute. Now I regret that as a result I was only able to make reference to shota in link with this work (laugh). 」(Matsui Rena)
